# cent

Status: preview. $CENT is not live and the API below is not open yet. This file describes how it will work.

cent sells model calls priced in cents. Credit comes from burning $CENT on Solana, which costs less than list price.

## Get credit
1. Ask for a quote: how much $CENT to burn and the credit it gives. Quotes hold for 10 minutes.
2. Burn that amount from your own wallet with the quote id in a memo.
3. Send the transaction signature. cent reads the burn from the chain and credits the wallet that burned.

## Get a key
Sign a sign-in message with the same wallet. The key is tied to that wallet's balance.

## Call models
OpenAI-compatible: set the base URL to this site's /v1 and use the key as a bearer token.
Text models answer on /v1/chat/completions. Image models answer there too with modalities ["image", "text"].
Every response carries its cost in cents. The balance drops by exactly that.

## Mixes
A mix chains several models in one call and is billed once, at the sum of its calls.
